Pen Calligraphy". In 2022, he was prominently recommended as an "Art

As the ancients said: "A passionate calligrapher’s work is naturally
exquisite; an artist’s dedication makes their craft unparalleled." For
years, Yu Chengyun has devoted himself to artistic practice. Immersing
himself in nature, he draws nourishment and inspiration, demanding that
each of his works embody unique creativity, profound life aspirations,
and distinctive spiritual integrity—works that offer both spiritual
encouragement and artistic delight. Through relentless effort, his
calligraphy and paintings have achieved remarkable mastery, advancing in
tandem. In visual arts, he excels in landscapes, flowers-and-birds,
figure painting, freehand brushwork, meticulous detail, paper-cutting,
and woodblock porcelain plate art. His calligraphy encompasses all six
styles. Particularly, his snow scenes radiate purity, simplicity, depth,
and solemn grandeur—vividly depicting post-snow mountain forests,
courtyards, and flora. Through variations in ink density and negative
space, he captures the serene crystallization of snow, with trees in
snow conveying profound melancholy. Each stroke pulsates with vitality,
forming a distinctive style with exceptional collectible value. His
snow-themed works have already fetched over a million yuan at auctions,
embodying the poetic sentiment of "walking through paintings, wandering
in landscapes." Every brushstroke embodies passion and life, creating a
unique artistic language that stands as a testament to his creative
genius.
Yu Chengyun’s achievements in calligraphy and painting art creation
have always emphasized scholarly cultivation, adherence to traditional
rules, seeking guidance from teachers and friends, and consulting
mentors. Mr.Yu’s life experience, having reached the age of seventy,
along with the tremendous changes of the times and the joys and sorrows
of human life, have left deep imprints in his heart. While keeping his
mind detached from material things and his spirit wandering through
heaven and earth, a comprehensive view of Yu Chengyun’s artistic journey
reveals a vibrant and three-dimensional picture, rich in colors and
well-arranged. Particularly, his snowscape paintings stand out uniquely,
making them a standout in the Chinese art world.
